Vihtavuori N550 Rifle Powder

Vihtavuori N550 rifle powder is a versatile, high-energy propellant originally developed for .30-06 Springfield and .308 Winchester cartridges. It is an ideal choice for many .30 caliber magnum loads with lighter bullets, while also performing reliably across a broad range of bore sizes and shooting disciplines.

N550 is well suited for .30-06 Springfield hunting loads with heavier bullets, as well as more powerful loads for 6.5×55 SE, .308 Winchester, and many other rifle cartridges. Its burning rate is similar to Vihtavuori N150 and falls in the medium range of the high-energy N500 series powders.

This tubular powder features symmetrical grain dimensions of 10 mm in length and 10 mm in diameter. Like all N500 series powders, N550 combines traditional single-base powder with added nitroglycerine for increased energy content. It delivers higher velocity at equal pressure compared with the N100 series, without increased rifle wear.
